The Opportunity:

This is a great opportunity to join our Indianapolis team as an Aerospace & Defense Project Engineer. In this role you will develop technical solutions with customers through close collaboration with engineering and design teams to leverage PWR’s engineering service capabilities and commercialize opportunities to deliver value to the customer and PWR. This role requires ownership of projects won to deliver high-level customer service from order placement to delivery of the project and providing ongoing support as required. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-starter, with a passion for building that requires minimal supervision, looking to develop professionally alongside a fast-growing company where they can contribute their skills.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Customer correspondence – discussing technical and commercial issues with customers for new and on-going projects.
  • Collaborating with other elements of the A&D group including design, analysis and modeling as well as manufacturing to develop project solutions.
  • Develop project timing and detailed quotations including potential qualification testing and analysis needed.
  • Release and coordination of projects for manufacturing.
  • Ensuring customer requirements, quality and project timing is being met with projects progressing through manufacturing by working closely with internal PWR North America production and quality teams.
  • Working closely with procurement and suppliers to source unique project materials or services.
  • Product development and improving engineering processes – working to uphold the highest standard of AS9100 and ITAR
  • Leverage product knowledge and technical understanding to assist with new sales opportunities.
  • Failure analysis and review of existing products to develop improvements where possible.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent in Engineering with 1-3+ years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience managing design processes and competent use of CAD for component or project review
  • Experience with ITAR/AS9100/TS16949 working environments, requirements, and restrictions.
  • Advanced level computer skills and excellent customer service skills with strong commercial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate across global teams, customers, and manufacturing units.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U. S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. PWR will require proof of status prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven manufacturing experience – experience with heat exchangers in aerospace or defense markets is highly sought after.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic environment
