Job Description

Building Inspector

We are seeking an experienced Building Inspector to join our team in the Area of Fairfield, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting a range of trade-specific inspections on both commercial and residential buildings, as well as managing specific projects related to code compliance and quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive code inspections on a variety of building types, including commercial and residential, in accordance with the International Codes
  • Prepare detailed written and electronic inspection reports, issuing notices of correction as needed
  • Effectively explain and interpret applicable building codes, regulations, and quality control requirements to clients and stakeholders
  • Recognize, evaluate, and resolve unique problems or situations that arise during the inspection process
  • Maintain excellent customer service relationships with clients, contractors, and the general public
  • Assist the inspection management team with business development activities
  • Undertake other related duties as assigned by the Manager

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; additional technical training, certifications, or a degree in a related field is preferred
  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting field inspections on construction projects
  • ICC Commercial and Residential Inspector certifications
  • Texas Plumbing Inspector license
  • Proven experience in quality assurance/quality control and project management
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily field-based work, with some time spent in the office
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and exposure to construction site hazards, as per OSHA regulations
  • Frequent travel within the assigned geographic area to conduct inspections and manage projects
