Job Description

Drummond Carpenter’s is seeking a Civil or Environmental Project Engineer to assist in the growth of our municipal operations. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, practical problem-solving, and strong communication skills to deliver solutions for our growing Midwestern client base. The person hired into this position will operate in a sell/manage/do mode while being supported by Drummond Carpenter’s senior professionals and talented staff engineers. Ideal candidates will excel at providing innovative engineering solutions to assist our municipal, state, and federal clients in areas such as stormwater management, resiliency planning, infrastructure design, watershed management, and environmental permitting.

Drummond Carpenter is a service-disabled veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB) with five areas of practice: civil and water resources engineering, green infrastructure and sustainability, environmental modeling, environmental assessment and remediation, and nuclear disposal and storage. Drummond Carpenter is a leader in developing solutions to many of our country’s toughest environmental challenges that impact the health and safety of communities and the natural environment. POSITION ACTIVITIES

Some of the key responsibilities for the experienced engineer are listed below. It is not a requirement to have experience in each category, but to be a motivated individual willing to expand your competences and leverage complimentary corporate skills.

  • Perform civil site design and analyze infrastructure performance
  • Lead the development of construction documents, prepare cost estimates, and conduct comprehensive project QA/QC
  • Define and manage project scope, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful, on-time, and cost-effective delivery of high-quality solutions
  • Oversee and manage a diverse range of engineering projects
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, public presentations, and project discussions
  • Act as a primary client liaison, cultivating strong relationships and offering trusted technical counsel
  • Contribute to business development efforts including proposal creation
  • Network with engineering consulting companies and municipal utilities with a goal of forming partnerships that will lead to an expanded revenue stream

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related discipline. (required)
  • Professional registration or certification in the field (e.g., PE, CFM, CPESC, LEED AP, PMP, etc.). (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or environmental engineering or management or closely related discipline. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of post-graduate education and experience
  • Experience with design software tools including Civil3D, GIS (ESRI products, QGIS), and relevant modeling software
  • Experience with municipal infrastructure and civil site design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Experience mentoring entry-level engineers and interns
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
