We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team, ensuring our operations align with environmental regulations and industry best practices.

Job Description

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting our environmental compliance programs. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all activities at our facilities adhere to Federal/State/local rules and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental compliance within the oil and gas industry, strong problem-solving skills, and a dedication to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including air, water, waste, and land management requirements.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and assessments to identify areas for improvement of existing permit.
  • Assist with review and filing of required environmental permits, reports, and documentation accurately on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis.
  • Collaborate with operations and production teams to implement environmental best practices and improve sustainability efforts.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees to increase awareness of environmental compliance obligations, sample collection processes and safe practices.
  • Respond to and investigate environmental incidents or non-compliance events, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Track and report on environmental performance metrics to senior management and regulatory agencies as needed.
  • Stay updated on new regulations, industry trends, and technological advancements in environmental compliance.
  • Assist with managements’ review and comments with regard to State and Federal rulemaking processes.

Other Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in data management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Team, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: CPEA, CEM, or REM
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
