Job Title: Interpreter - Somali

Location: REMOTE

Duration: 3 Months +Possibility of Extension)

Work Shift: Part-time Remote Weekdays only(8-12 hours/week)

**Languages: MUST SPEAK SOMALI.

Job Designation:

• Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak the same language by converting one spoken language to another.
• Interpreting services include but are not limited to Employment, Training & Orientation, Meetings, Human Resources, Health Services and other operational activities as assigned.
• This position is held to a strict code of confidentiality. The interpreter must be willing to work in all environments of the facility.
• Example projects include, written translation, video and phone interpretation, voice recording, translation review and editing.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school degree or equivalent is preferred

Certification in interpreting/translation preferred

Experience:

• Must be able to pass our interpreter assessment with an average total score of 90% or higher.
• One year of interpreter experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Communication Skills:

• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the target language.
• Working knowledge of interpreting/translating best practices preferred, including prioritizing confidentiality at all times.

Special Skills:

• Must be able to work independently, while simultaneously working as part of a team collaboratively and learning new skills.
• Must be able to demonstrate strong organizational skills, prioritize deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be proactive and willing to ask for help to understand projects fully and perform at one's highest level Dependable internet connection required Basic Computer and Typing Skills Required.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms (e.g. Zoom, TEAMS, etc.) preferred

Travel: Minimal (1-3 times annually, all expenses paid)
