Senior Project Manager for a Mid-Size General Contractor

Dynamic and Entrepreneurial Environment

Blue Harlan is a recruitment partner to this Full-service commercial general contractor providing services to companies and developers within the Midwest. The company continues to grow and is adding a Senior PM to the team. Seeking previous PM experience with large projects from multi-family to commercial business to healthcare clinics to education to restoration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight : Lead and manage construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor project teams, including project engineers, field staff, and subcontractors, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Client Relations : Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Budget & Cost Management : Develop and manage project budgets, track costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and timeline.
  • Scheduling & Planning : Create detailed project schedules, manage timelines, and adjust plans as needed to address delays or changes in scope.
  • Contract Management : Review, negotiate, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all terms are met and compliance is maintained.
  • Risk Management : Identify potential risks to the project’s success and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Quality Control : Ensure all work meets company standards, safety regulations, and client expectations through consistent inspections and coordination.
  • Permitting & Compliance : Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including securing necessary permits and inspections.
  • Reporting & Documentation : Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including reports, change orders, and meeting minutes, ensuring transparent communication with stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making : Proactively resolve issues that arise during construction, ensuring minimal impact on the project timeline and budget.
  • Subcontractor & Vendor Management : Oversee the performance and quality of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring that all project requirements are met.
  • Final Closeout & Handover : Ensure smooth project closeout, including final inspections, completion of punch lists, and delivery of all project documents to the client.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or or industry equivalency in architecture, engineering or construction is desired Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience managing projects
  • Strong business acumen in project planning and management
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • Must be team-oriented and flexible in assuming new responsibilities as they arise
