Job Description – Sous Chef

SHACK15 is a social Club in the heart of San Francisco, dedicated to serving the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators and changemakers. At SHACK15, we aim to be the landing pad for individuals coming from around the world to access Silicon Valley and all that it has to offer.
The Venue:
SHACK15 occupies 51,000sq ft on the third floor of the iconic Ferry Building with undisrupted views of the SF bay and Bay Bridge. Featuring a cozy, members-only lounge space, a delicious café, bar and restaurant run in partnership with award winning chefs from the Nordics, and also a dedicated workspace with amenities like meeting rooms, fixed desks and phone booths. By day, our members’ lounge is a place for professional collaboration and by night, a fantastic space to have a drink, attend events, mingle, bring friends and network with other entrepreneurs, founders and creatives.
The Role: Sous Chef
SHACK15 is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate has experience in hotel banquet operations or specialized event catering, preparing high-quality meals for up to 250 guests at upscale, professional events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Executive Chef in menu execution and kitchen operations
- Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation meet SHACK15’s standards
- Lead kitchen staff and oversee meal preparation for events
- Manage inventory, ordering, and kitchen organization
- Maintain health, safety, and sanitation standards
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a hotel, banquet, or event-driven kitchen
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Expertise in upscale event catering and large-format meal preparation
- Passion for high-quality, seasonal, and innovative cuisine
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
