As a Data/Report Developer, you will play a pivotal role in aligning database strategy with the company's overall business objectives. Your primary responsibility will be to spearhead database reporting initiatives that not only support but also drive key business decisions. As a Data/Reporting Developer, you will be responsible for working closely with a small database team to develop pipelines, create reports for the business, and streamline the database development process for engineers. In addition, you will work closely with leadership to understand business goals, ask the appropriate questions, and make suggestions based on the existing environment for continuous improvement. This is a contract-to-hire role that offers a remote work setting.

Position Summary

• Take ownership of assigned database systems with a strong focus on aligning reports with business objectives.
• Collaborate closely with business leaders to gain a comprehensive understanding of industry dynamics and company goals.
• Manage projects and tasks that enhance business efficiency and growth, contributing to the overall optimization of the database.
• Familiar with database development tasks, including data modeling.
• Design and create advanced visualizations within Power BI to support the needs of various business units.
• Develop and implement data pipelines and reporting tools that provide strategic insights to support decision-making.
• Apply best practices in version control.
• Use Databricks for data processing and reporting (develop ETL pipelines, custom dashboards/visualizations)

Minimum Experience

• 5+ years of experience in database report writing (experience in the logistics industry is highly preferred).
• Expertise in MS SQL databases
• Report development within Power BI for creating impactful visualizations and reports.
• 3+ years of experience in developing ETL pipelines.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to gather and interpret business requirements.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-starting attitude.
• Proficient in writing complex SQL scripts from scratch.
• Experience working with Azure database technologies, with Databricks experience required.
• Experience performing unit testing on self-authored code.
• Keen attention to detail in a fast-paced logistics environment.
• Willingness to take on multiple roles within the database environment.
• Proven success in collaborating across multiple teams.
• Ability to voice opinions, concerns, and needs effectively in a team environment.
• Self-motivated with a strong desire for continuous process improvement and a solution-oriented mindset.
